The Tasting Room Associate position at Chateau Ste. Michelle is a part-time, hourly job offering an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about wine and exceptional customer service. This role requires availability during evenings and weekends and is eligible for tips. As a Tasting Room Associate, you will play a vital role in creating memorable winery experiences by connecting positively with every guest. The position involves engaging with diverse personalities professionally and courteously while helping customers select and purchase wines, assisting with events, and supporting wine club and eCommerce order fulfillment.

This role demands strong communication and sales skills, proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) systems, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Physical aspects of the job include standing and walking for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidates should possess a High School diploma or equivalent, be at least 21 years of age, and hold a MAST 12 Class Permit and Food Handler's Permit. Prior customer service experience in retail or hospitality, interest or knowledge in the wine industry, and a history of responsible alcohol use are critical for success.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • MAST 12 Class Permit and Food Handler's Permit required
  • 2+ years of customer service experience preferred in retail or hospitality
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and sales skills
  • Interest or knowledge in wine and wine industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment as part of a team
  • Proficiency in POS systems and basic computer skills
  • Must be flexible and available to work varied hours, including weekends
  • History of responsible alcohol use and fitness to be licensed or certified by state or local regulatory bodies

Job Duties

  • Be friendly, courteous, and capable of interacting with a wide variety of personalities in a professional and polite manner, with an eagerness to meet the needs of every guest
  • Learn product information to assist guests with making selections, purchases, and assisting with events
  • Assist with fulfillment of wine club and eCommerce orders as necessary, including pulling, packing, and processing wine orders for delivery, as well as curbside pickup
  • Assist management with the effective, tactful, and professional enforcement of various winery policies regarding guest use of the facility
  • General housekeeping duties to ensure the appearance and cleanliness of the tasting room are up to or exceed standards
  • Operate POS/registers to sell wine, merchandise, wine club memberships and to collect wine tasting fees as needed
