The role of the Tasting Room Associate at Acme Hospitality is pivotal in ensuring guests receive friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service in the company’s tasting rooms. The primary responsibility for this position is to attend to customers promptly by taking orders, processing payments accurately, and delivering food and beverages in a timely and courteous manner. The associate is expected to embody the Acme Team Member qualities, which include a strong work ethic with consistent enthusiasm, a passion for food and beverage knowledge, honesty, integrity, and the ability to multitask effortlessly under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.

In addition, the Tasting Room Associate plays a key role in enriching the guest experience by guiding customers through available wines and menu options, providing insightful recommendations based on preferences and dietary needs, and ensuring that all special requests and modifications are communicated effectively to the kitchen and bar staff. This role also involves anticipating guest needs throughout their visit, including refilling drinks and clearing plates, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.

The position requires a person who is both humble and eager to learn continuously, someone who can make thoughtful decisions in challenging situations and enjoys bringing ideas and improvements to the table. The Tasting Room Associate collaborates closely with both the front and back of house to coordinate smooth service delivery while adhering strictly to health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

This position typically requires candidates to have at least two years’ experience working in a similar role such as a server or tasting room associate, with strong expertise in food and beverage menus, wine pairing, and cocktail recipes. Candidates must be capable of working flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and hold certifications such as Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) and current Food Handler Certification. The role reports directly to the General Manager and may include occasional travel requirements. The Tasting Room Associate position is a non-exempt status role that plays an integral part in maintaining Acme Hospitality’s reputation for delivering top-tier and memorable dining and tasting experiences.

Job Duties

  • Greet guests warmly and provide them with seating options and a wine list
  • Provide detailed explanations of the wines
  • Assist guests in selecting food and beverages by making knowledgeable recommendations based on their preferences and dietary restrictions
  • Take accurate food and drink orders, using a point-of-sale (POS) system, and communicate with kitchen and bar staff
  • Ensure that all special requests or modifications to orders are communicated correctly to the kitchen and accommodated as much as possible
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and accurately, ensuring proper presentation and adherence to quality standards
  • Monitor tables throughout the meal to anticipate and fulfill guests' needs, such as refilling drinks, clearing plates, and providing additional utensils or condiments
