We are currently seeking a Tasting Sous Chef to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine culinary expertise with client-facing interaction, playing a key role in preparing and leading client tastings that exemplify the best of Footers Catering's culinary craftsmanship. As the Tasting Sous Chef, you will be part chef and part experience curator, responsible not only for the preparation and presentation of tasting menus but also for engaging directly with clients to ensure exceptional hospitality and personalized service throughout the tasting experience. You will collaborate closely with the Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef to customize menus and maintain detailed records to ensure quality and consistency across events.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive culinary and hospitality knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and superb communication skills. They are calm, flexible, and solution-oriented under pressure, able to multitask efficiently and maintain a professional appearance. Additionally, this role involves leading and mentoring future tasting chefs, supporting ongoing training initiatives, and contributing to menu innovation efforts. This position typically operates Monday through Friday with occasional weekend shifts and averages about one event per week. The Tasting Sous Chef is pivotal in shaping client experiences that leave a lasting impression, supporting Footers Catering's status as a premier catering service provider.

Job Requirements

  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods of time

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive culinary and hospitality knowledge

  • Prior experience in culinary training or team development preferred

Job Duties

  • Lead preparation, cooking, and presentation of client tastings with exceptional quality and presentation
  • Execute assigned tastings flawlessly while showcasing Footers Catering culinary standards
  • Work closely with the Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef to customize tasting menus based on client preferences
  • Maintain detailed tasting notes, recipes, and execution standards to ensure event consistency
  • Assist with prep, organization, and execution of tasting events from start to finish
  • Train and mentor future tasting chefs on preparation speed, presentation standards, and client interaction
  • Interact directly with clients during tastings to explain menu selections, flavor profiles, and culinary techniques
