The Food & Beverage Manager role at Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel is integral to overseeing the operational success of the food and beverage departments. This leadership position supports the department head by ensuring compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness regulations. The manager plays a key role in maintaining elevated standards for food and beverage quality, service, and marketing to maximize profitability while delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, supervising, coaching, scheduling, and managing staff to create an efficient and motivated team. The Food & Beverage Manager is tasked with fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and exceptional guest satisfaction. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous management or supervisory experience in food and beverage
  • valid food/beverage service permit if required
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • meet minimum age requirement as per local laws
  • willingness to work varied shifts
  • no health or safety threats to self or others
  • proficiency in basic math and language skills

Job Qualifications

  • read, write and speak English
  • two to three years of fine dining experience preferred
  • two years banquet management experience preferred
  • food/beverage service worker permit where applicable
  • effective communication skills with public and employees
  • meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction
  • previous supervisory or management experience
  • knowledge of 8th grade math level
  • high school reasoning level
  • 12th grade language use level
  • ability to ensure workplace safety and health

Job Duties

  • assist department head in oversight of food and beverage activities
  • ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
  • maintain high standards of food and beverage quality and service
  • maximize food and beverage department profits through effective marketing
  • interview, train, supervise and coach staff
  • prepare staff schedules
