The Marriott Chicago O'Hare is a distinguished full-service hotel located in the vibrant city of Chicago, IL. Known for its commitment to exceptional hospitality and guest experiences, the Marriott brand has established itself as a leader in the hospitality industry worldwide. This particular property offers a blend of comfort, luxury, and convenience, catering to both business travelers and vacationers. As part of a global hospitality giant, the Marriott Chicago O'Hare benefits from a robust corporate structure, access to extensive resources, and a culture that emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and professional growth. The hotel is strategically located to serve guests visiting Chicago and its surrounding areas, providing high-quality accommodations, dining, and event services.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Task Force Executive Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is home-based in Chicago and entails supporting multiple branded hotels throughout the United States. The salary range for this position is competitive, from $95,000 to $105,000 annually. The Task Force Executive Chef serves as an essential player in providing temporary culinary leadership and operational support during periods of leadership transitions, hotel openings, renovations, staffing shortages, and special projects. This role demands a talented culinary professional who combines hands-on leadership with exceptional culinary skills and the flexibility to travel extensively as business needs dictate.
This position focuses on ensuring consistent food quality, exceptional guest satisfaction, and strong financial performance across multiple properties. It involves comprehensive oversight of food and beverage operations, including adherence to brand standards, managing food safety compliance, and fostering team development. The Task Force Executive Chef will travel to various hotel locations, providing temporary leadership to culinary teams, coaching, training, and mentoring team members to elevate operational efficiencies and food quality. A critical aspect of the role includes managing food purchasing, controlling inventory, implementing menus, and ensuring cost management aligns with budgetary goals. Additionally, the chef will collaborate closely with General Managers, Directors of Operations, and Food & Beverage leaders to meet overarching business objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of Executive Chef experience in a full-service hotel environment, with a strong preference for Marriott experience. This role requires proven expertise in banquet, restaurant, and catering operations, and the ability to manage food and labor costs effectively. Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of food safety, HACCP standards, sanitation practices, and hold a ServSafe Manager Certification. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel management systems. Candidates must be adaptable, capable of managing dynamic operational situations, and willing to travel frequently to various hotel locations. This role also requires physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in fluctuating kitchen environments, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Joining Marriott Chicago O'Hare as a Task Force Executive Chef offers not just a job, but a career opportunity with comprehensive benefits, including health and dental insurance, company-paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, vision care, critical illness and accidental insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, free hotel rooms, and discounts. Marriott Chicago O'Hare embraces diversity and inclusivity, ensuring a supportive workplace culture that values every employee's contributions and promotes professional growth within the hospitality industry.
