Job Description

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is a renowned boutique hospitality brand originating from San Francisco, established in 1981. Founded by Bill Kimpton, the company redefined hospitality by fostering genuine human connections that transcend the ordinary, impersonal hotel experiences common in the industry. Emphasizing heartfelt interactions and a community-oriented environment, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants have cultivated a culture where employees and guests alike can connect authentically and feel a sense of belonging. As a subsidiary of IHG Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton continues to expand globally, upholding its commitment to distinctive service, innovative hospitality, and a vibrant company culture.

This particular role is integral to maintaining the high standards of Kimpton’s food and beverage services within their hospitality portfolio. The position centers around delivering top-tier restaurant and banquet experiences that uphold the brand's reputation for excellence. As a pivotal leader, the successful candidate will spearhead the management of food and beverage operations, ensuring exceptional service quality, operational efficiency, and financial success. This role not only requires operational expertise but also strategic vision, as it involves developing annual marketing plans to capture new sales opportunities and optimize existing market segments.

The role entails comprehensive oversight and coordination of daily activities, including managing budgets, controlling costs, and improving profitability related to the food and beverage department. Candidates will work closely with the Executive Chef and oversee banquet and catering operations, ensuring all food products meet Kimpton’s exacting standards for quality and presentation. Collaboration with the sales department and marketing teams is also critical, aligning food and beverage offerings with broader business goals and guest satisfaction metrics.

Key responsibilities include directing and motivating staff, maintaining an attractive and well-kept environment, and leveraging data from sales and inventory reports to optimize performance. This role embodies leadership qualities that promote creativity, self-leadership, and a passion for hospitality. Employees in this position are encouraged to be their authentic selves, contributing unique perspectives to a lively, empowering workplace. The culture at Kimpton fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and every team member is empowered to make a meaningful difference.

Given the complex, multifaceted nature of this role, candidates are expected to have significant experience in restaurant or food and beverage management, along with certifications such as Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness licenses, and ideally a Level 1 or higher certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers. Proficiency in software systems like Aloha, Avero, Infogenesis, OpenTable, ADP, and eTime payroll is essential for operational efficiency.

Working at Kimpton means joining a team where your work has a direct impact on improving the lives of coworkers, guests, and communities. This role offers not only the opportunity to manage and innovate within a key hospitality sector but also to grow professionally within a widely respected and culturally rich company.
