This position is a sales manager role focused on managing accounts to optimize guest satisfaction and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for soliciting new group sales accounts while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, thus ensuring revenue goals across rooms, food and beverage, and room rental are met or exceeded. This role demands a flexible work schedule that includes ad hoc travel to properties, where approximately 70% of the time is spent on-site engaging with clients and teams, while the remaining 30% involves remote work from a home office. The sales manager will engage in proactive outside sales calls, conduct site inspections, and effectively communicate with clients through various channels. A deep understanding of market trends, customer competition, and the ability to prepare detailed banquet and catering proposals will be essential to success. The candidate will also provide leadership and coordination across hotel departments to ensure high-quality service delivery and seamless event execution.

The position offers a salary range of $65,000 to $70,000 annually and does not include eligibility for tips, service charges, or discretionary performance bonuses. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic hospitality environment and has a demonstrated ability to close sales and grow business. The sales manager will represent HEI Hotels and Resorts at trade shows, community events, and industry meetings, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A strong background in hospitality sales, event detailing, and familiarity with hotel sales systems like Delphi FDC and CiTy is preferred. This role requires a cooperative team player with leadership capabilities who can motivate peers, respond promptly to leads, and contribute positively to overall hotel operations and revenue success.

Job Requirements

  • 1+ years of sales experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1+ years of past sales experience preferred
  • Essential prior experience in the field of hospitality with specific experience in detailing events
  • Must have experience at varying sized and tiers of hotels and resorts
  • Ability to be flexible with work location and travel
  • Ability to respond, evaluate and close business opportunities (leads)
  • Good working knowledge of multiple brands and hotel sales systems (e.g. Delphi FDC, CiTy)
  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi
  • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers
  • Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market
  • Ability to execute appropriate action plans
  • Must be willing to 'pitch-in' and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals
  • Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.

Job Duties

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication
  • Achieve or exceed sales goals related to sales transactions and lead closure rates
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented
  • Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts
  • Respond to inbound lead flow quickly and efficiently to close new business within set time parameters
  • Detail banquet and catering events accurately in proposal, contract and sales systems whilst ensuring all stakeholders are aware of details and changes
