The role of Bartender within Spotlight 29 Casino and Tortoise Rock Casino is pivotal in shaping the guest's experience and supporting the overall mission of the organization. This position requires the individual to adeptly mix and serve both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons in the casino bars, lounges, and other designated locations. The bartender is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, embodying the Five Star Experience which emphasizes the service values of being welcoming, proactive, seamless, personalized, and valued. They take customer orders, prepare cocktails using standardized recipes, serve wines and beer, handle cash and non-cash transactions, and maintain the cleanliness and readiness of the bar area. Additionally, this role involves managing inventory by ordering necessary liquors and supplies, rotating stock, garnishing drinks, replenishing snacks, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and internal control standards.

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities but demands a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a passion for providing excellent hospitality. Physical demands include standing for extended periods, occasional lifting, and the ability to work in variable lighting and noise conditions typical in gaming environments. The work environment includes multiple casino locations, some of which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, requiring the bartender to be flexible with work hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency calls. The position also requires adherence to strict policies including possession of a valid Tribal Gaming License and passing background checks and drug screenings. Bartletts are expected to maintain a positive image of the Tribal organization and contribute to a safe, clean, and enjoyable atmosphere for both guests and team members. Job Requirements

  • Must pass periodic random drug screens
  • Must be able to pass background suitability investigation
  • Must obtain a Tribal Gaming License
  • Must obtain all other applicable certifications and licenses
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of standard cocktail recipes and bartending techniques
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle cash and operate point of sale systems
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of bar area
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Provide outstanding customer service by exceeding mission statement
  • Deliver Five Star Experience to guests and team members by embodying mission statement and service promise while adhering to department service standards
  • Take orders from customers or beverage server
  • Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks
  • Prepare alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages using standard recipes
  • Serve wine and draught or bottled beer
  • Collect money for drinks served and give proper change
  • Enter items in point of sale system
  • Handle cash and non-cash transactions
  • Order or requisition liquors and supplies
  • Stock and rotate bar with liquors, beer, wine, mixers, glassware, and other items needed for beverage service
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive display
  • Slice fruit for garnishing drinks using proper knife handling skills
  • Replenish bar snacks such as chips, pretzels, and nuts
  • Request identification from customers when legal age is questioned
  • Replenish beverages as requested and frequently check back with guests to inquire about satisfaction
  • Perform side work as directed by management
  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products to adhere to health and safety standards
  • Wear uniform during work hours, meetings, and training
  • Keep all equipment thoroughly clean and notify management of any repairs needed
  • Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS)
  • Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to guests and vendors and assist them as required
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and attend all scheduled safety meetings and training
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
