Job Description
The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians is a tribal organization dedicated to preserving its rich cultural heritage while delivering outstanding service and experiences to its guests and community. Their enterprises include a variety of hospitality and gaming facilities that operate with a strong commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. As a part of this esteemed organization, employees contribute not only to the operation of these businesses but also to the representation of tribal values and traditions.
This particular role focuses on the bar porter position, which is crucial to maintaining the smooth function and cleanliness of the bar area within the establishments. The bar porter plays an essential part in supporting bartenders and delivering the renowned Five Star Experience to both guests and team members. The position is centered around upholding the tribal organization’s mission and service promise, ensuring that service is welcoming, proactive, seamless, personalized, and valued.
The bar porter is responsible for cleaning the bar and equipment thoroughly, replenishing valuable bar supplies including liquor, fruit, ice, and dishware, and assisting with various duties to enhance the overall guest experience. This includes stocking refrigerators with alcoholic beverages, replacing empty kegs, slicing and pitting fruit garnishes, washing glassware and fixtures, maintaining attractive displays of bottles and glassware, and general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
Beyond these operational tasks, the bar porter also supports bartenders by preparing drinks and handling guest payments when necessary. Compliance with all minimum internal control standards and tribal regulations is mandatory, ensuring a secure and lawful environment. Employees in this role must present a positive image of the tribal organization at all times to guests, vendors, and colleagues.
This position requires the ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and potential emergency call-ins, given the 24/7 nature of many tribal enterprises. While this role does not have supervisory responsibilities, the bar porter must strictly adhere to safety policies, wear required uniforms, and attend scheduled training sessions.
Physically, the job demands stamina for standing, walking, lifting up to 75 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks, all while adhering to proper safety and operational procedures. The work environment may involve exposure to noise, low lighting, and non-smoke-free areas. The tribal organization also follows an Indian Preference Act hiring policy that prioritizes tribal members and other Native Americans, emphasizing the community-oriented nature of the workplace.
Overall, this role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, motivated to provide exceptional customer service, physically capable, and dedicated to supporting the operational excellence and cultural values of the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians.
