The Inland Tankerman role at Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is vital to ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant loading and unloading of tank barges while carefully managing the transfer and discharge of liquid and chemical cargoes in accordance with all applicable U.S. Coast Guard regulations. This position requires a hands-on approach where the tankerman acts as the Person-In-Charge (PIC) during operations on tank barges and plays a crucial role in operational safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities span a wide range from using personal protective equipment, documenting inspections and safety analyses, conducting routine and preventative maintenance on vessels and barges, to maintaining exceptional communication with the crew, office personnel, and dock workers. As part of this role, the Inland Tankerman also contributes to safety drills, emergency responses, and provides mentorship and training to deckhands and new tankermen.

Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (T.W.I.C.)
- Valid Merchant Mariners Document endorsed as Tankerman PIC (Barge) DL
- No spills or violations in the last twelve (12) months
- Must be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to get along and work well with others in close quarters
- Must be flexible and able to work any work schedule
- Must be able to perform routine duties in all types of weather (hot, cold, dry, wet, slippery, icy)
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be able to ascend and descend portable ladders and fixed stairs
- Strength and balance are essential
- Ability to work in confined or small spaces
- Must be able to lift and move up to 100 lbs
- Must be willing and able to fly on a commercial airline for crew change
- Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical exam including the USCG CG-719k Physical
- Must satisfactorily complete a USCG DOT Drug and Alcohol screen, benzene physical, and full-face respirator test
- Job requires heavy work under normal and adverse weather conditions including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, walking, climbing, reaching, hand/eye coordination, twisting, working around unprotected heights, moving machinery, and repetitive actions with hands and feet
Job Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

- Valid Merchant Mariners Document endorsed as Tankerman PIC (Barge) DL
- Tankerman experience on 30K BBL tank barges preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment onboard inland towing vessels and tank barges
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well with others in close quarters
- Flexibility to work any work schedule
- Ability to perform routine duties in all weather conditions
- Ability to ascend and descend portable ladders and fixed stairs
- Physical strength and balance to perform duties on a moving platform
- Ability to work in confined or small spaces
Job Duties
- Safely performing the duties of the Person-In-Charge (PIC) by loading, transferring, and discharging liquid and chemical products onboard tank barges
- Safely and efficiently carrying out the duties of a member of the deck crew onboard inland towing vessels and barges
- Completing Declarations of Inspection (DOIs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Boat/Barge Load Plans prior to most tasks
- Utilizing the EMS PPE Matrix when preparing to handle cargo
- Performing hourly checks of the vessel and engine room and logging the activity
- Performing and maintaining routine maintenance on vessels and tank barges
- Reporting maintenance issues to wheelhouse personnel and the EMS maintenance hotline
