Job Description

About the Company and Role: This organization is a dynamic and forward-thinking company operating in the convenience store, retail, hospitality, or restaurant sectors, characterized by a multi-unit 24/7 operational model. The company is dedicated to building a high-performing workforce across all its locations. Committed to excellence in talent management, the company values innovative approaches, employee engagement, and leadership development as keys to long-term organizational success. It fosters a collaborative culture where team members are motivated, trained, and developed to meet and exceed operational and business objectives. The company's holistic approach emphasizes building strong relationships between operations and talent teams, ensuring strategic alignment and practical execution.

The Role of Talent Manager: The Talent Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for directing the organization’s talent acquisition, training, and leadership development initiatives. This position oversees both recruiting and training teams and is charged with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs that support employee growth, leadership effectiveness, and operational excellence. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that requires balancing strategic planning with tactical execution.

In this position, the Talent Manager will develop comprehensive recruiting and learning systems, partnering closely with operations leaders to strengthen workforce capabilities. The role involves frequent collaboration with store teams to ensure that recruiting, onboarding, and training programs are executed effectively and efficiently at all levels of the organization. The Talent Manager must be an innovative and people-focused leader, proactively seeking new recruiting strategies, developing future leaders, and building consistent talent practices that improve hiring outcomes, employee retention, and engagement.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on responsibilities, requiring both office-based system development and in-store implementation. The company operates around the clock — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year — making schedule flexibility essential. Candidates must be prepared for occasional evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. This role is not remote and entails active presence in both corporate and store environments to support talent initiatives directly.

The Talent Manager will lead the Talent Operations team, which includes recruiting, training, and employee development functions, and will also build and mentor a store-level training team that extends the reach and impact of Talent Operations. The position demands strong leadership skills to establish expectations, coach team members, and foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture. Moreover, the Talent Manager will partner with Operations leadership to ensure all talent-related programs align with the company’s business goals and operational needs.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring key performance indicators related to recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention to identify and implement improvements. The Talent Manager will innovate recruiting strategies, manage the full recruitment lifecycle, design structured interview processes, and coach hiring managers on recruitment best practices. Building strong employer branding, engaging with community partners, and maintaining leadership talent pipelines are also fundamental aspects of this role.

The Talent Manager is responsible for designing, documenting, and continuously enhancing training programs for store-level employees, supervisors, and managers. This includes developing training materials such as manuals, digital learning platforms, assessments, and job aids. The person in this role will deliver engaging training sessions both in classrooms and directly in store environments. They will conduct thorough needs assessments using various tools and data, measure training effectiveness, and adapt programs to ensure sustainability and relevance.

Leadership development is a core focus, with responsibilities that include creating leadership pathways for store positions, coaching leaders with a balanced, approachable style, identifying high-potential employees for succession planning, and supporting employees during transitions and growth phases through ongoing evaluations and development conversations.

Finally, the Talent Manager will work closely with Operations leadership and store teams to build trust and maintain strong relationships that facilitate open communication and adaptability. The role supports stores during new hires, leadership changes, and performance challenges with a calm, confident, and approachable presence.

This opportunity offers a rewarding leadership challenge for a strategic and tactical talent management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location environment and is passionate about developing people and organizational capabilities.
