The role of Talent Development Specialist at our Rochester site is pivotal in supporting our organizational goals and employee growth initiatives. Reporting directly to the Talent Development Manager, the specialist serves as a key collaborator with various departmental and business units to identify performance gaps and learning needs throughout the company. This position entails designing, developing, and deploying effective training solutions tailored to the workforce, enhancing employee skill sets and integration to support the company’s ongoing initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing training activities in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) areas, encompassing new employee onboarding and qualification training programs.

The Talent Development Specialist is instrumental in utilizing the company’s Learning Management System (LMS) to prepare, monitor, document, and report training activities promptly and accurately. This role demands the individual to maintain thorough knowledge of instructional design, adult learning principles, leadership development, and learning technologies to effectively facilitate workforce development. The specialist also acts as a backup for the Talent Development Manager during their absence, ensuring continuity of learning activities. The position requires strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills across all organizational levels, ranging from entry-level employees to senior management.

Candidates for this role should demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a team-oriented environment with minimal supervision. Flexibility is essential, including the willingness and capability to occasionally work off-shift hours as business needs demand. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • experience designing engaging and effective learning content
  • proficiency in using content development applications preferred
  • experience in delivering live training sessions
  • knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • proficiency in Learning Management Systems and/or other training applications preferred
  • ability to present and train at various employee levels
  • excellent communication and leadership skills
  • self-motivated and able to work independently
  • flexibility to work off-shift hours occasionally
  • ability to stand extended periods for training delivery
  • able to lift or move objects up to 20 pounds
  • willingness to work in a manufacturing and office environment with variable noise levels and adhere to safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Development, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Learning Studies, Education, Psychology or related field
  • proven expertise in designing engaging and effective learning content, demonstrating a strong background in Instructional Design principles
  • experience in delivering live training sessions preferred
  • certification in Instructional Design, Training and Development, or related field is a plus
  • leadership development experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Creation, delivery and coordination of site learning activities
  • conduct needs assessments by evaluating knowledge, skill levels, and organizational needs to determine performance gaps and appropriate training and development solutions
  • work with subject matter experts to identify target audience's developmental needs to then create and execute a strategy to satisfy those needs
  • create/identify engaging learning activities (instructor-led and eLearning) and compelling course content that encourages learning
  • analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies, instructional design, and program facilitation
  • develop and maintain learning content, materials, programs, and resources
  • support company onboarding strategy
  • assist in the management of the site's Learning Management System
  • maintain in-depth knowledge of performance management, instructional design, adult learning principles, leadership development, learning technologies, etc
  • facilitate individual development of employees, including leveraging individual development plans
  • participate in the creation and delivery of leadership development activities for site managers and supervisors
  • develop and maintain successful business relationships at all levels, including mid- and senior-level management
  • partner with Talent Development Manager to update, implement, facilitate and manage the site Trainer Certification program and standards
  • assist as needed to support site onboarding and new employee training for GDP areas
  • as business needs dictate, work extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks
  • other projects assigned
