Job Description

Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a dynamic and rapidly expanding multi-brand restaurant operator that prides itself on maintaining a people-first culture. Founded initially as a 30-unit Taco Bell business in 2012, DRG has grown exponentially to oversee more than 300 units, including Taco Bell locations across California, Kansas, Missouri, and Nevada, as well as Arby's restaurants in Alaska, California, and Nevada. With a commitment to fostering a close-knit environment often described as a 'small company feel' within a large organization, DRG has built a reputation for valuing each team member as a vital part of the DRG family. The company currently employs over 9,000 dedicated team members and continues to grow, reflecting its ongoing success and expanding footprint in the restaurant industry.

The role of General Manager (GM) at DRG carries significant responsibility and opportunity. The GM acts as a mentor and leader, guiding their team to optimal performance while ensuring smooth restaurant operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This leadership position is instrumental in driving the restaurant's profitability through focused recruitment efforts, ongoing staff training, and maintenance of high-quality food standards. The GM’s role is vital in shaping and perpetuating the company's culture in alignment with DRG's core values, fostering inclusivity, respect, and a fun working atmosphere.

Key responsibilities for the General Manager include team development through identifying, training, and mentoring high-potential individuals to become future leaders. Operational excellence is another critical component, encompassing top-tier customer service, maintaining pristine restaurant conditions, serving excellent food, and managing robust financial performance. Financial stewardship is essential, with the GM responsible for Profit and Loss (P&L) management by controlling costs and maximizing profit margins.

Leadership qualities are paramount, requiring sound decision-making skills and the ability to act as a liaison between upper management and the team while practicing transparency and open communication. The GM also leads ongoing training initiatives, providing constructive, real-time feedback, and emphasizes continual learning and growth within the team. Upholding DRG’s culture and values means actively recognizing accomplishments and promoting an environment where all team members feel valued. Additionally, the GM ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and local regulations, safeguarding the operation’s integrity and standards.

This role demands a minimum of two years of restaurant experience with demonstrated leadership abilities, effective communication skills in English, and successful completion of SERV Safe Certification. Flexibility is required, with an expectation to work an average of 45 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Reliable transportation along with a clear criminal background and Motor Vehicle Record are mandatory. The General Manager plays a vital role in building strong internal relationships with team members, coaches, directors, and peers, as well as externally establishing trust and rapport with guests to maintain the restaurant's esteemed reputation.

In addition to competitive operational responsibilities, the General Manager at DRG is supported by a comprehensive benefits package designed to aid in employee wellbeing and growth. These benefits include financial assistance grants, access to exclusive discounts, counseling and legal support services, scholarships, referral bonuses, educational reimbursements, and a pay program enabling daily access to earnings. DRG’s dedication to a supportive workplace environment positions the General Manager role as an attractive opportunity for those passionate about leadership within the restaurant industry, looking to make a tangible impact on both their team and customers.
