Job Description

Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a people-first company that prides itself on maintaining a large company with a small company feel. Established in 2012 initially as a 30-unit Taco Bell business, DRG has grown impressively to encompass over 300 units across multiple brands. Presently, the company operates Taco Bell restaurants in the states of California, Kansas, Missouri, and Nevada, as well as Arby’s restaurants located in Alaska, California, and Nevada. With a strong workforce of more than 9,000 team members, DRG continues to expand its footprint daily, demonstrating a commitment to growth while fostering an inclusive and family-oriented culture.

The General Manager (GM) role at DRG is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving the success of restaurant operations. Reporting directly to the Area Coach and the Director of Operations, the GM serves as a mentor and leader to their team, ensuring optimal performance and facilitating a smooth operation that delivers an exceptional customer experience. This role is critical in maintaining maximum profitability and operational excellence while upholding the company’s culture and values. The GM is tasked with selective recruitment to bring in high-caliber team members, consistent training to ensure skill development, and upholding the highest standards of quality in food and service.

The General Manager plays a multifaceted role encompassing team development, operational excellence, and financial management. They identify and empower team members with leadership potential, fostering their growth to effectively excel in their responsibilities. This leadership extends to making sound decisions, acting as a liaison between upper management and staff, and promoting open-door communication to nurture trust and transparency. A substantial part of the role involves enforcing compliance with company policies and local regulations, guaranteeing that the restaurant adheres to all requirements consistently.

In addition to managing operations, the GM is responsible for ensuring a vibrant company culture that aligns with the DRG values of inclusivity, recognition, and respect. The GM actively promotes an engaging and fun atmosphere that reflects positively on both employees and customers. Financial oversight is a key duty, with the GM managing the profit and loss statements carefully to maximize profitability while controlling costs prudently. This balanced approach helps maintain the restaurant’s reputation for excellence in service and food quality, positioning DRG as a leader in multi-brand restaurant operations.

This position requires dynamic leadership behaviors including hiring and staffing top talent, exhibiting integrity and maintaining trust, motivating the team effectively, applying analytical thinking to problem-solving, and demonstrating a relentless drive for results. The GM develops strong internal relationships with team members, area coaches, directors, and peers, as well as external rapport with guests to create memorable customer experiences that uphold the brand’s reputation.

The General Manager role is a non-exempt status position requiring an average of 45 hours per week with flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of two years of restaurant experience demonstrating leadership ability. Must be able to communicate proficiently in English and maintain necessary certifications such as the SERV Safe Certification and health card compliant with local regulations. Reliable transportation and a clean background and motor vehicle record are necessary for this role.

Candidates joining DRG and this team become part of a passionate and supportive company that values its employees as family. DRG offers unique benefits such as the DRG Cares Grant Program which provides assistance for life challenges and financial support, a comprehensive savings marketplace, employee assistance programs that include counseling and legal support, scholarships, referral bonuses, education benefits, and DailyPay—a program that allows for daily paycheck access. This role offers the opportunity to lead a successful restaurant operation within an evolving and respected company that emphasizes culture, growth, and excellence.
