Job Description
Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a people-first company with a strong foundation built on a small company feel despite its substantial growth. Established in 2012 with just a 30-unit Taco Bell business, DRG has expanded into a thriving multi-brand operation managing over 300 locations. These include Taco Bell restaurants across California, Kansas, Missouri, and Nevada, and Arby's restaurants in Alaska, California, and Nevada. With more than 9,000 team members, DRG continues to flourish by emphasizing a family-like culture that values each employee and fosters growth and inclusivity. Known for its commitment to operational excellence and outstanding customer service, DRG maintains a dynamic environment where each employee contributes to the company's overall success.
The General Manager (GM) role at DRG is pivotal to the success of each restaurant location. This non-exempt position reports to the Area Coach and Director of Operations and is fundamentally responsible for leading a restaurant team to achieve operational excellence, profitability, and superior customer experience. The GM serves as a mentor and leader who identifies, trains, and develops high-potential individuals to become future leaders within the restaurant. This role requires a strategic focus on managing P&L statements carefully to maintain strong financial results by minimizing costs and maximizing profitability.
The GM ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and local regulations, reinforcing DRG's culture and values by promoting inclusivity, a respectful atmosphere, and recognition of outstanding individual and team achievements. They take on a leadership role that balances operational oversight with coaching and development responsibilities, ensuring every team member continuously improves their skills. The GM also plays a crucial role in creating a world-class operation that includes maintaining a pristine restaurant environment, delivering excellent food, and providing exceptional customer service.
This position demands flexibility, with an average 45-hour workweek that includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least two years of proven restaurant leadership experience. They should also pass the SERV Safe Certification and maintain current health requirements as per local and state regulations. Reliable transportation, a clear criminal background check, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record are mandatory.
DRG supports its team members with multiple benefits designed to assist in their personal and professional lives. These include the DRG Cares Grant Program for financial assistance, an exclusive Savings Marketplace, an Employee Assistance Program offering counseling and legal support, a Live Mas Scholarship Program, and education benefits like GED reimbursement. The company also encourages employee referrals and offers the DailyPay program to access paychecks daily.
Ultimately, the General Manager position at DRG is more than managing a restaurant; it is about embodying the company's values, driving results, building a positive team culture, and delivering an outstanding customer experience while fostering the growth and development of future leaders. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a flourishing company that values dedication, integrity, and a passion for excellence.
