Job Description

Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a people-first company that values its team members and fosters a family-like atmosphere. Founded in 2012 as a 30-unit Taco Bell business, DRG has expanded significantly to operate over 300 locations across multiple brands including Taco Bell in California, Kansas, Missouri, and Nevada, and Arby's in Alaska, California, and Nevada. With more than 9,000 team members, DRG prides itself on combining the advantages of a large company with the close-knit culture of a smaller organization. This unique approach underpins the company's commitment to employee growth, operational excellence, and outstanding customer service, making it a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry.

The General Manager (GM) role at DRG is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of a restaurant's operations. Reporting to the Area Coach and Director of Operations, the GM is entrusted with mentoring and leading their team to achieve exceptional performance standards. This includes recruiting top talent, providing consistent training, and maintaining food quality to ensure an outstanding customer experience. The GM plays an integral role in shaping the company culture by embodying and promoting DRG’s core values and cultivating a fun, inclusive, and respectful workplace.

Key responsibilities of the General Manager include developing a high-potential team by identifying and mentoring future leaders, ensuring operational excellence by delivering exceptional service and maintaining a pristine environment, and managing the restaurant's financial performance by optimizing profitability and controlling costs. This role also involves making strategic decisions and acting as a liaison between upper management and the team while upholding an open-door policy to foster transparent communication.

In addition, the GM is responsible for continuous employee training and development through workshops and real-time constructive feedback, emphasizing the importance of ongoing learning. They must actively promote DRG’s culture by recognizing individual and team accomplishments, encouraging inclusivity, and maintaining a positive atmosphere. Compliance with company policies, procedures, and local regulations is another vital area of accountability, ensuring that all aspects of the restaurant operate smoothly and legally.

The ideal candidate for the General Manager position is at least 18 years old, holds a high school diploma or equivalent, and brings a minimum of two years of restaurant experience with proven leadership skills. They must be proficient in English, have passed the SERV Safe Certification Course and exam, and maintain a current health card as required by state or local laws. This role demands flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with an average 45-hour workweek. Reliable transportation, a clear criminal background, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record are also essential.

DRG offers comprehensive benefits including the DRG Cares Grant Program to assist employees facing life challenges, exclusive discounts through the DRG Savings Marketplace, an Employee Assistance Program offering counseling and legal support, educational benefits such as GED reimbursement and language courses, and a unique DailyPay program allowing employees to access paychecks daily. Additional opportunities for scholarships and employee referrals further demonstrate DRG’s commitment to supporting its workforce.

Applicants should note that if hired, they will be employed by Angel City Bell, LLC, a franchisee of Taco Bell, which operates independently and determines its own wage and benefit packages. The General Manager role at DRG provides an excellent opportunity for restaurant professionals eager to lead, inspire, and grow within a dynamic and expanding multi-brand company.
