Job Description

Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a forward-thinking and people-focused company that has significantly expanded since its inception in 2012. Starting as a modest 30-unit Taco Bell operation, DRG now proudly manages a vast portfolio of over 300 units across multiple brands, including Taco Bell and Arby’s restaurants. Spread across several states such as California, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, and Alaska, DRG employs more than 9,000 dedicated team members. The company prides itself on its unique culture that combines the infrastructure of a large corporation with the intimate, family-oriented atmosphere of a small business. Employees at DRG become part of a supportive family, fostering career growth and personal excellence in a vibrant and inclusive work environment.

The role of Assistant General Manager (AGM) at DRG is a critical leadership position within the restaurant operations team, working under the supervision of the General Manager (GM), Area Coach (AC), and Director of Operations (DO). This non-exempt role demands a proactive, organized, and professional individual who can oversee daily operations to ensure optimal efficiency, compliance with brand standards, and superior customer service. The AGM plays a vital role in maintaining operational excellence, ensuring that every shift runs smoothly and that all tasks are completed on time with a focus on quality.

This position requires exceptional leadership capabilities, as the AGM will be responsible for leading, coaching, and motivating both team members and shift managers to prioritize customer satisfaction and deliver outstanding service experiences. The Assistant General Manager also supports the GM in financial performance targets and key operational commitments, including safety adherence to OSHA regulations and staff training programs. Recruiting, onboarding, and developing the team are also essential aspects of the AGM’s responsibilities, ensuring the restaurant has qualified and motivated staff members.

In the absence of the General Manager, the AGM assumes full responsibility for restaurant operations, ensuring all activities comply with brand and corporate standards. This involves managing complex interpersonal dynamics, resolving conflicts constructively, and fostering a positive work environment where employee engagement is high and customer experiences are exceptional. The AGM helps drive the continuous improvement of service and operational processes, contributing to the restaurant's overall success.

Candidates for this role must possess at least two years of restaurant experience with proven leadership skills across all shifts, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to communicate effectively in English. Successful candidates must obtain ServSafe Certification and maintain a current health card as per state and local health regulations. This position requires reliable transportation, a clear criminal background check, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). The typical workweek averages 45 hours, including flexible availability during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical demands of the job include standing and walking throughout shifts and lifting items up to 50 pounds. The role involves frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stretching, and repetitive movements necessary to manage a fast-paced restaurant environment. DRG supports its employees with numerous benefits such as the DRG Cares Grant Program, Employee Assistance Program, live Más Scholarship Program, and DailyPay option, emphasizing a comprehensive and employee-centered approach to workplace wellbeing.

This opportunity is offered through Angel City Bell, LLC, a franchisee of Taco Bell, where employees operate within an independent franchise with its distinct wage and benefit policies. DRG is committed to equal opportunity and complies with applicable privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California applicants. Overall, the Assistant General Manager position at DRG represents a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about leadership, customer service, and the dynamic restaurant industry.
