Job Description
Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a dynamic and people-first company that has successfully expanded from a modest 30-unit Taco Bell operation in 2012 to an impressive multi-brand organization operating over 300 restaurants today. DRG operates Taco Bell locations across California, Kansas, Missouri, and Nevada along with Arby's restaurants in Alaska, California, and Nevada. With a workforce exceeding 9,000 team members, DRG fosters a family-oriented atmosphere where each employee is valued as a vital part of the organization's success and growth. The company prides itself on maintaining a small-company feel despite its large scale, cultivating a supportive and collaborative work environment for its staff. DRG is committed to the personal and professional development of its team members and offers various programs such as financial assistance, education benefits, employee referral initiatives, and exclusive savings marketplaces to enrich their work experience and life outside the job.
The role of Assistant General Manager (AGM) at DRG is integral to the seamless daily operation of the restaurant. Reporting to the General Manager (GM), Area Coach, and Director of Operations, the AGM acts as the pivotal leadership figure ensuring that every shift runs smoothly, operational standards are met, and the brand’s values are upheld. This full-time, non-exempt position demands a professional with proactive leadership abilities, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for delivering superior customer service. The AGM is responsible for supporting the GM in all operational aspects and stepping into the leadership role when the GM is absent. Key responsibilities include managing shifts effectively, leading and motivating team members, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, assisting in recruitment and onboarding, and supporting the achievement of financial and customer service goals. The AGM is expected to foster a positive team culture, contribute to training and development plans, and uphold DRG’s brand standards and policies.
The ideal candidate possesses at least two years of restaurant experience with proven leadership capabilities across shifts, holds a high school diploma or equivalent, and meets all local health and safety certifications including ServSafe. Strong communication skills in English and the ability to manage diverse operational demands are essential. Physical stamina is required due to the nature of the role involving continuous standing, walking, and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. DRG values employees who demonstrate career ambition, conflict resolution skills, sound decision-making, and the ability to motivate others, creating an engaging and productive workplace environment. Embracing these leadership behaviors will empower the AGM to contribute effectively to the restaurant’s ongoing success. By joining DRG, the Assistant General Manager becomes part of a growing and dynamic organization that values leadership, teamwork, and customer satisfaction at its core.
