Job Description
Touchmark is a reputable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of its residents through a foundation of core values represented by the acronym ETHIC — Excellence, Teamwork, Hospitality, Integrity, and Compassion. These guiding principles are deeply ingrained in every aspect of daily operations and interactions, whether it be providing personal caregiving or maintaining the physical environment such as mowing the grass. Touchmark prides itself on fostering an inclusive and supportive culture by encouraging its team members to embody the roles of Allies, Friends, and Givers.
As a multifaceted company operating in the senior living and healthcare sectors, Touchmark emphasizes delivering exceptional services through community-focused care and innovative infrastructure. The company serves over 3,000 employees across a multi-state environment, underscoring its significant scale and commitment to operational excellence.
Touchmark is currently seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join its IT team to support, design, and evolve its enterprise infrastructure. This role is strategic and mission-critical, where the successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex infrastructure environments spanning physical servers, virtualization technologies, and cloud systems primarily across VMware and Microsoft Azure platforms. The Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance, availability, security, and optimization of the enterprise's technological assets.
The Systems Engineer position involves designing and maintaining server infrastructure across multiple distributed sites, supporting a mix of physical and virtual environments to guarantee high availability and continuous operational superiority. A significant part of this role includes leading cloud and hybrid infrastructure initiatives, managing Azure environments, migrations, and connectivity setups while optimizing for cost efficiency and scalability.
Security is a top priority, and the Systems Engineer must ensure rigorous infrastructure protection through system hardening, patching, vulnerability management, and compliance with HIPAA-aligned controls. Operational excellence is driven by implementing observability tools, alerts, incident responses, and comprehensive disaster recovery planning including backup management and documentation. The role demands automation expertise through scripting with tools like PowerShell and Python, adopting Infrastructure-as-Code practices, configuration management, and robust documentation standards.
Ideal candidates for this role will bring 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering or enterprise infrastructure roles, with proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V virtualization, and Azure cloud services. Networking expertise is also essential, covering LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, and hybrid connections involving site-to-site VPNs and Azure connectivity options like ExpressRoute. The applicant should be adept at applying modern security paradigms such as Zero Trust and SASE to enforce network segmentation and identity-based controls.
Additionally, the candidate is expected to function as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for complex infrastructure troubleshooting and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring superior communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in compliance-centric environments like healthcare is highly advantageous.
Touchmark offers a comprehensive benefits package inclusive of paid time off, healthcare coverage, education assistance, and retirement plans, underscoring its commitment to employee wellbeing and professional growth. This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about infrastructure modernization, operational reliability, and contributing meaningfully to a values-driven organization dedicated to making a positive impact.
