Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is currently seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join their team at the Aurora, Colorado facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in large government contracts, supporting critical missions with advanced technology infrastructure. The Systems Administrator will have responsibilities encompassing Linux and Windows system administration, VMware technology management, and NAS storage maintenance, primarily NetApp ONTAP. In this position, you will ensure the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems by working closely with network and software engineers, desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and IT management teams. Your expertise will be essential in performing system enhancements such as installing upgrades, patching, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and managing configuration changes to maintain system reliability and security.

Key tasks include providing backup and recovery services, managing file systems and disk space, administering virus protection measures, creating user and computer accounts, and modifying file permissions and security access. The role also involves maintaining logging and security audits on classified networks under the guidance of the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), supporting cybersecurity initiatives, and regularly reporting project status. Candidates must be prepared for some travel (up to 25 percent of the time) and occasional after-hours or weekend support as needed. Relocation assistance may be available.

This is a cleared position requiring a current Top Secret/SCI clearance with adjudicated Full Scope Polygraph at the time of application. The position offers a competitive salary range of $91,800 to $137,600 annually, with additional compensation possibilities including overtime, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent experience
  • Current active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
  • Minimum 2 years of IT experience or equivalent based on education
  • Server administration experience in Linux and Windows environments
  • Familiarity with VMware administration
  • Must obtain or have DOD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification
  • Experience with NAS storage systems
  • Physical ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Availability for after-hours and weekend support

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of IT experience
  • Master's degree with 0 years of IT experience
  • Associate degree with 4 years of IT experience
  • HS Diploma or GED with 6 years of IT experience
  • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance with adjudicated Full Scope Polygraph
  • Server administration experience with Linux RedHat Enterprise Linux preferred and Windows
  • Administration on VMware technologies or related
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification such as Security+ CE or ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date
  • Experience with NAS storage device administration preferably NetApp ONTAP 8.x or higher
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to support after hours and on weekends as needed

Job Duties

  • Perform as a Linux and Windows system administrator on large government contracts
  • Perform administration on VMware technologies or related
  • Experience with all aspects of NAS storage
  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems including coordination with network, software, and system engineers
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
  • Provide backup and recovery services
  • Manage file systems and disk space
  • Manage virus protection on a routine basis
  • Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists
  • Maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager
  • Support the Cyber Security team
  • Report on project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts
