The position is a Contract-to-HireSystems Administrator / Engineer role emphasizing enterprise-level computer networking combined with system administration duties. The ideal candidate must possess at least five years of hands-on experience in complex systems environments, primarily focusing on Cisco enterprise networking and Check Point Firewall technologies. This role requires a technical expert who is deeply knowledgeable and confident in navigating both vendor interactions and complex problem-solving scenarios without relying on external knowledge aids.

The candidate will be expected to work five days onsite, managing network issues and providing on-call support to maintain uninterrupted network operations. The technical environment involves primarily on-premises infrastructure with strong preference to data retention inside organizational premises, minimal cloud adoption except for third-party SaaS applications, and a security-first approach. The role’s technical stack includes Windows Server (2016 and above), Active Directory with deep expertise, Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL and other database management systems, and network routing and switching technologies. Experience with telecommunications protocols, advanced network security components, and various routing methods such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP will be crucial.

Additional responsibilities involve participating in ongoing infrastructure upgrades and transitioning from legacy Cisco routers and Check Point firewalls towards an SD-WAN environment. Candidates must hold at least two mid-level or higher certifications from a recognized list including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Check Point, CompTIA, VMware, Microsoft, Amazon, NetApp, EMC/Dell, SANS, ISC2, or EC Council. The role demands strong communication skills, technical depth, service-oriented collaboration, a problem-solving mindset, and an ability to document work meticulously. This is an opportunity for professionals seeking to leverage advanced enterprise networking skills in a mature environment that values both technical expertise and teamwork, with a competitive hourly salary range of $60 to $65 per hour.
