Job Description

Leidos is a renowned global company dedicated to advancing technology, engineering, and science to create a safer, healthier, and more efficient world. Operating primarily across civil, defense, health, and intelligence business sectors, Leidos serves a broad spectrum of government and commercial clients. The company is distinguished by its commitment to employee growth, work-life balance, and career development, backed by strong leadership engagement, a professional human relations team, and an extensive range of support programs designed to enhance employee well-being. Leidos fosters an inclusive workplace where innovation and collaboration thrive, encouraging its team members to bring unique talents to solve complex challenges.

This specific opportunity is within Leidos Defense group, focused on supporting the Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSM-O II) team at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. The position available is System Administration II for the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE) team. JCSE delivers critical scalable C4 (Command, Control, Communications, and Computers) support to Regional Combatant Commands, Special Operations Command, and other agencies. As a vital member of this team, you will perform system assessments and provide hands-on engineering expertise to ensure operational excellence.

The role encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities, including the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing technical support of software, hardware, and tools used by the Enterprise Infrastructure platform. You will provide Tier II technical support to the Joint Network Operations Center (JNOC), alongside developing and recommending hardware and software solutions to meet evolving operational needs. Central to this position is also ensuring compliance with cybersecurity mandates, particularly the Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements, to safeguard enterprise systems.

Further duties include the administration and maintenance of complex systems such as LINUX servers, Microsoft Servers, Microsoft Domain Controllers, Exchange servers, and VMware infrastructure including vCenter, VIEW VDI, and VMware Horizon View. Supporting and managing SCCM Systems Manager for enterprise workstation imaging, application deployment, and issue resolution is also part of your responsibilities. You will play a significant role in designing and managing server virtualization, storage solutions including Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS), as well as handling Active Directory Certificate Services and Internet Information Services deployments.

Critical to the role is troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and maintaining optimum system performance while implementing security and user administration functions. You will be entrusted with designing and maintaining robust backup and disaster recovery strategies. Your technical expertise will guide network topologies, server configurations, hardware-software deployments, and overall administrative tasks associated with production servers.

You will also be involved in documenting technical requirements, system changes, facilitating design sessions, and architectural reviews. Regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses on systems during all phases of the system development life cycle are essential to this position. Collaboration within security frameworks to maintain Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), developing RMF Security Plans, and preparing RMF accreditation packages is a critical part of your function.

The role demands the flexibility to perform system patching to uphold the Authority to Operate (ATO) status, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide escalated technical assistance. Flexibility in working hours to support team needs is also required.

Leidos offers a highly competitive compensation package ranging from $73,450 to $132,775 annually, reflecting the responsibility level and experience required. Employees benefit from comprehensive health and well-being programs that include health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, dental, vision, and 24/7 employee assistance programs. Income protection benefits cover company-provided life and accidental death insurance, business travel accident coverage, and options for additional dependent life insurance.

The company prioritizes leave programs to promote work-life balance, including competitive paid time off options. Retirement savings are supported through a 401k plan with company match based on fringe benefits. Employees are also eligible for an Employee Stock Purchase Plan with a 10% discount and family benefits such as childcare resources, backup childcare, and dependent flexible spending accounts.

Leidos' core values—integrity, inclusion, innovation, agility, collaboration, and commitment—shape a workplace that promotes equality, growth, creativity, and a safe environment. The company encourages applicants who are innovators, problem solvers, and driven professionals ready to disrupt the status quo and help advance their mission. Those seeking a meaningful career with opportunities for professional growth and cutting-edge challenges will find a fitting home at Leidos.
