The role of Switchboard Operator-Receptionist at ServiceSource is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring seamless communication and excellent customer service within the organization. This position requires a high level of knowledge in office systems and procedures, as well as the ability to perform multiple clerical duties such as answering telephones, operating computers, typing, and data entry or processing. Employees in this role serve as the first point of contact by managing multiple phone lines, transferring calls, and using the public address system effectively. They also maintain confidentiality by safeguarding sensitive patient record information, adhering strictly to privacy standards such as HIPAA.
Switchboard Operators at ServiceSource play a critical role in safeguarding the hospital community by following fire, safety, bomb threat protocols, and security regulations specific to their assigned areas. They contribute directly to the day-to-day operations of the organization by operating essential office machines like photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, and voicemail systems. Furthermore, individuals in this role are expected to be well organized, detail-oriented, and capable of carrying out tasks with high accuracy.
This position involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing on a regular basis, with occasional requirements to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. The work environment is typically moderate in noise and supports employees with reasonable accommodations as necessary. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
- 1 year experience in a high demand and fast-paced environment preferred
- 1 year experience with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) preferred
- Must be able to obtain a VA security clearance

Job Duties
- Operate office machines such as photocopiers and scanners and facsimile machines voicemail systems and personal computers
- Accurately enter data into corresponding fields within various software programs
- Review files records and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests
- Compute record and proofread data and other information such as records or reports
- Maintain patient confidence by keeping patient record information confidential
- Perform phone operator functions such as answering multiple call lines transferring receiving codes and speaking on the PA system
- Adhere to all fire and safety bomb threats and security protocol regulations within assigned area
- Serve and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standards hospital policies and procedures federal state and local requirements as well as Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations (JACHO) standards
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
