The Sweeping Day Porter is a crucial role within DCPS dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of assigned commercial properties. This role is designed for individuals who take pride in creating and sustaining safe, clean, and presentable environments that enhance client satisfaction and tenant experience. The day porter ensures that commercial properties stay pristine and operational throughout the day, responding proactively to emerging needs such as litter removal, surface cleaning, and safety monitoring. This position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently while managing time efficiently.
Operating mainly during daytime business hours from Monday through Friday, the Sweeping Day Porter supports the company’s commitment to excellence through routine cleaning, restocking supplies, and handling special requests. The individual in this position will interact professionally with clients and tenants, further reinforcing DCPS’s reputation for exceptional service. Physical demands include lifting up to 30 pounds regularly and performing repetitive tasks under various weather conditions, reflecting the role’s active nature on both indoor and outdoor commercial premises. Compensation for this role ranges from $21.00 to $24.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, with a robust benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and retirement savings options. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- Previous janitorial, custodial, or porter experience preferred but not required

Job Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of commercial properties
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, litter removal, dusting, window cleaning, and trash removal
- Restock restroom supplies such as paper products and soap as needed
- Respond promptly to service requests including litter pickup and cleanup of debris or illegal dumping
- Monitor properties for maintenance or safety issues and report concerns to appropriate personnel
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces to support health and safety standards
- Assist with special requests, deliveries, and basic site support as needed
