Job Description

Sixty Vines is a chef-driven restaurant known for its menus inspired by the seasonal cuisine of the wine country. The establishment prides itself on using local ingredients and preparing meals fresh in their open scratch kitchen. This commitment to quality and freshness ensures a unique dining experience that pairs perfectly with a carefully curated wine selection. Sixty Vines values knowledgeable staff who can assist guests in choosing the ideal glass of wine to complement each dish, embodying the philosophy that food tastes better with wine.

Working at Sixty Vines offers a vibrant and dynamic environment where employees are encouraged to engage with guests and contribute to an extraordinary dining experience. The role of a Host or Hostess is vital to ensuring a warm welcome, efficient seating, and smooth communication throughout the restaurant. Every shift offers the opportunity to connect with people, foster a friendly atmosphere, and be an essential part of the restaurant's operations.

Employees enjoy flexible schedules that accommodate their lifestyle and personal commitments. After one year of service, with minimum average hours met, team members are eligible for five days of paid time off. Insurance benefits become available following 60 days of employment, provided the minimum average hours requirement is fulfilled. Compensation averages $17 per hour including tips, rewarding excellent service and dedication.

Periodic wine country trips offer an exciting chance to explore the culture and craft behind the cuisine and wine served daily. Additionally, Sixty Vines supports professional development with opportunities for WSET or Sommelier certification, enhancing employees' knowledge and skills in the wine industry.

Hosts and Hostesses are responsible for greeting and seating guests warmly and promptly, handling all incoming phone calls professionally before the third ring, and maintaining cleanliness in key areas such as the entrance, hostess stand, and women’s restroom. Managing the reservations system is crucial to ensuring proper seating within reservation times and balancing walk-in guests to avoid over or under-booking.

A successful host or hostess is friendly yet professional, engaging guests with light conversation while escorting them to their tables to set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The role requires multitasking and good communication skills to answer common questions about the restaurant, menu items, special events, and wine or cocktail features.

Additional responsibilities include keeping the floor, entry, and aisle ways clean; assisting with bussing tables when needed; and offering guests alternative seating options during busy periods while maintaining accurate wait times. Hosts are also expected to provide directions inside the restaurant when necessary and thank guests sincerely as they leave.

Sixty Vines promotes a fun, energetic, and professional attitude among its staff. Prior restaurant experience is beneficial but not mandatory as training and support are provided to help new hires succeed. The company strictly participates in the E-Verify program to ensure a legal workforce and supports equal employment opportunities for all candidates. Working at Sixty Vines means being part of a team that values hospitality, quality, and passion for food and wine, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for both employees and guests alike.
