Job Description

The Ned's Club Washington DC is a prestigious members' club situated in a historic neoclassical building in the heart of the US capital, just steps from iconic landmarks such as the White House, US Treasury, and the Washington Monument. This premier establishment is part of The Ned, a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants designed for like-minded individuals to meet, work, and enjoy exceptional experiences. Since its first launch in London in 2017, The Ned brand has expanded across the globe, with the Washington DC location being the newest addition, opening in 2025. The club spans three floors and features three distinct restaurants, each offering unique global cuisines, alongside an impressive array of event spaces and lounges including a Rooftop Terrace, Founder’s Dining Room, Library, Drawing Room, Gallery, Conservatory, and private event floors.

Working as a Sushi Line Cook at The Ned’s Club Washington DC offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-energy, fast-paced, and dynamic culinary team. The role primarily involves preparing high-quality sushi dishes such as maki, nigiri, and sashimi in adherence to strict food safety standards. This position demands expertise in filleting fish, preparing sushi rice, creating sauces, and maintaining station inventory. The ideal candidate will be skilled at delivering beautifully plated and consistent dishes that align with the club's renowned standards of presentation and taste.

This full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage between 25 and 27 dollars. Beyond the technical cooking skills, the Sushi Line Cook will have the chance to work closely with the kitchen leadership team and Head Sushi Chef, participate in seasonal menu innovations, and contribute to memorable dining experiences for members and guests. Job Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Previous professional experience in a sushi restaurant or similar role
  • Ability to adhere to food safety standards and kitchen hygiene protocols
  • Capacity to work full-time including varied shifts
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Attention to detail in food preparation and presentation

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sushi restaurant or working on a sushi line in an operational kitchen
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques or specific cuisine types is advantageous
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure kitchen environment while maintaining calm
  • Genuine passion for providing exceptional guest food experience
  • Creative flair with willingness to assist in seasonal menu creation
  • Flexibility to work morning, evening, or night shifts

Job Duties

  • Set up the sushi station with all necessary equipment and ingredients
  • Prepare ingredients including washing, slicing, and preparing garnishes
  • Clean, skin, and fillet various fish ensuring proper portion control
  • Assemble maki rolls, nigiri, and sashimi according to restaurant recipes and presentation standards
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace following health regulations and storing food properly
  • Execute orders quickly and accurately during high-volume service while coordinating with head sushi chef and lead line cook
  • Monitor inventory levels of fresh fish and ingredients and notify chef when items need reordering
  • Prepare and serve restaurant menus with consistent quality and presentation
  • Read recipes and create dishes that meet Ned's Club standards
  • Address issues proactively to prioritize guest experience
  • Maintain safe and clean kitchen environment using equipment properly
  • Assist in prepping for next service to support team cooks
