Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of sushi preparation experience in a professional restaurant environment required
  • Must be flexible and available to work a part-time, on-call schedule including varied shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and peak business periods
  • Ability to follow recipes according to Chef specifications
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas
  • Ability to conduct regular inventory
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of sushi preparation experience in a professional restaurant environment
  • Experience preparing a variety of sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume kitchen environment preferred
  • Pastry or dessert preparation experience is a plus
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and peak business periods

Job Duties

  • Apply advance knife skills required for making sushi and other Japanese dishes
  • Maintain menu knowledge and attention to detail of plate presentation
  • Ensure food quality is superior and correct any irregularities
  • Conduct inventory on a regular basis of specified food items and proper par levels
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning as well as cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas
  • Follow recipes according to Chef specifications
  • Notify Room Chef or Sous Chef of challenges that arise and how they have been corrected
  • Assist with pantry and preparation areas
