We are currently seeking a full-time or part-time Sushi Cook to join the team at Momosan Ramen by Morimoto in Boston, Massachusetts. This role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented culinary professional passionate about sushi preparation and delivery. As a Sushi Cook, you will play a key leadership role in the kitchen, emphasizing precision, artistry, and high standards in every dish you prepare. Your responsibilities will encompass selecting the freshest ingredients, expertly handling and slicing fish and other components, and ensuring that all sushi offerings adhere to established recipes and safety standards. In this fast-paced environment, your ability to maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workspace will be essential to overall kitchen success.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise cutting and assembling of sushi
  • Ability to lift and carry large pans weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to push and pull equipment occasionally
  • Comfortable working in moderate-to-high noise levels
  • Flexible availability for days, evenings, holidays, weekdays, and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience as a sushi cook or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of sushi preparation techniques
  • Strong knife skills and precision in handling raw fish and other ingredients
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality sushi dishes by established recipes and standards
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in sushi preparation
  • Handle, slice, and present fish and other ingredients with precision and attention to detail
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organized workflow
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the sushi preparation area
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of ingredients
  • Uphold food safety regulations and practices
