Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as sushi chef or in a similar kitchen role
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to handle knives and sushi preparation tools safely
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as sushi chef or similar role
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques
  • Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety

Job Duties

  • Preparation: slice fish, cut vegetables, cook and season sushi rice, and assemble various sushi/sashimi items
  • Quality control: inspect ingredients for freshness, maintain portion sizes, and ensure consistent quality/presentation
  • Hygiene & safety: keep sushi bar, equipment, and workstation spotless
  • adhere to all health codes (ServSafe)
  • Inventory & stock: monitor food stock, rotate, label, and order supplies (fish, produce, rice)
  • Team collaboration: communicate with rest of staff for special requests/allergies, coordinate with other kitchen staff
