The role of a Sushi Cook at NoMI represents a unique opportunity to blend traditional Japanese culinary artistry with innovative, contemporary techniques in a distinguished setting. As a Sushi Cook, you will be entrusted with leading your station independently, demonstrating mastery in sushi making including sashimi, nigiri, maki, and specialty dishes. Job Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years of professional experience as a sushi cook
- Proven sushi preparation and knife skills
- Knowledge of seafood handling and sanitation
- Ability to maintain high standards of food safety
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Availability to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of professional sushi cook experience
- Mastery of sushi preparation including advanced knife skills and fish fabrication
- Culinary degree, formal sushi apprenticeship, or equivalent training preferred
- Deep knowledge of seafood sourcing, seasonality, and Japanese ingredients
- Strong understanding of food safety standards related to raw seafood
