Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in sushi preparation or related culinary field
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays
  • Strong knife skills and seafood handling capabilities
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a sushi cook or sushi chef in a high-volume restaurant environment or sushi bar
  • Proficiency in sushi preparation techniques including knife skills seafood handling and sushi rolling
  • Knowledge of different types of fish seafood and sushi ingredients as well as sushi terminology and presentation styles
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays as required
  • A genuine love for culinary experiences and a passion for Japanese cuisine
  • A natural team player who is at home working in sync with a large team
  • Naturally friendly customer-oriented and skilled at creating memorable dining experiences

Job Duties

  • Prepare sushi and sashimi dishes according to established recipes and plating standards
  • Handle and portion seafood including slicing filleting and cutting fish for sushi and sashimi
  • Ensure the freshness quality and proper storage of all seafood and ingredients used in sushi preparation
  • Follow recipes and plating guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy in sushi preparation
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station including equipment tools and work surfaces
