The role of the Sushi Chef at Uchi West Hollywood is a vital position that contributes directly to the overall dining and service experience. As a key member of the kitchen staff, the Sushi Chef will be responsible for mastering menu items, learning and perfecting sushi techniques under the mentorship of experienced chefs, and understanding the nuances of Japanese cuisine. Employment is full-time with competitive compensation ranging from $20.25 to $24.00 per hour, plus tips. Total estimated compensation, including tips, ranges from $27 to $48 per hour, reflecting historical averages but subject to variation depending on shift, day of the week, and individual performance. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees

Job Duties

  • Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine
  • learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams
  • understand proper handling and waste reduction of product
  • interact with guests at the sushi bar
  • take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest
  • learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grow
  • collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu
