The Sushi Chef role at Hai Hospitality is a dynamic and enriching position vital to the culinary success and overall guest experience within the organization. Sushi Chefs at Hai Hospitality are entrusted with mastering the art of sushi preparation, learning and refining advanced techniques under the mentorship of skilled chefs. This role goes beyond routine food preparation; it involves an in-depth understanding of Japanese cuisine, a commitment to quality and presentation, and an ability to engage guests at the sushi bar. Sushi Chefs have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the menu, including current specials and seasonal offerings, gaining expertise in ingredient handling, proper waste reduction, and culinary creativity. Job Requirements
- Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
- detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
- lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties
- must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
- ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
- lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements

Job Duties
- Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine
- learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams
- understand proper handling and waste reduction of product
- interact with guests at the sushi bar
- take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest
- learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows
- collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu
