As a Sushi Chef, you will play a central role in enriching the guest dining experience by mastering the art of sushi preparation and presentation. You will be responsible for learning the menu thoroughly, including current specials and the diverse elements of Japanese cuisine that define the restaurants' offerings. Under the guidance of experienced Chef mentors, you will perfect your sushi techniques, gaining expertise in fish handling, knife skills, and waste reduction practices to optimize product use. Interaction with guests at the sushi bar is a key aspect of this role, requiring you to take orders, explain dishes, and ensure a memorable and engaging experience for each visitor.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
  • Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
  • Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives
  • Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces
  • Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs

Job Duties

  • Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine
  • Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams
  • Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product
  • Interact with guests at the sushi bar
  • take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest
  • Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows
  • Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu
