Job Description

Sakesan is a well-established fast-casual Japanese restaurant located in San Francisco, CA, known for its authentic and high-quality sushi offerings. With two convenient locations at 626 Clement St and 1400 Ocean Ave, Sakesan is committed to providing customers with a warm, welcoming atmosphere paired with exceptional Japanese cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on its hospitality-minded team, who are passionate about food, beverage, and delivering excellent service to guests from diverse backgrounds. As a company, Sakesan values integrity, strong work ethics, and teamwork, making it an ideal workplace for individuals seeking a dynamic and supportive environment in the culinary and hospitality industry.

Currently, Sakesan is looking to expand its team by hiring full-time Sushi Chefs, Sushi Helpers, and Servers. These roles are vital in ensuring smooth operations in a high-volume dining environment. The positions require candidates who can multi-task effectively, communicate well, and work collaboratively with others. The Sushi Chef and Sushi Helper roles specifically demand prior experience in Japanese restaurants to maintain the authenticity and quality Sakesan is known for. On the other hand, while previous Japanese restaurant experience is a plus for the Server role, Sakesan is willing to provide training for the right candidate.

This opportunity offers a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $16.00 to $30.00 per hour, reflecting the experience and skill level of the candidate. Working at Sakesan means being part of a team that embraces a fast-paced work environment, with a flexible schedule that requires employees to commit to at least four shifts per week, including weekends and holidays. Candidates must also possess basic math skills, the ability to handle money, and operate a point-of-sale system efficiently. Additionally, having a ServeSafe Certification is mandatory, underscoring the company’s commitment to food safety standards.

Sakesan’s team members are expected to be on their feet for extended periods, so physical stamina is important. Strong ethical standards and the ability to communicate in the predominant language(s) of the guests are also key requirements. Employees will benefit from working in a friendly, learning-focused environment where growth and upskilling are encouraged. The restaurant also offers supplemental pay in the form of tips and provides health insurance. If you are passionate about Japanese cuisine, enjoy working in a fast-paced hospitality setting, and want to join a team that values teamwork and respect, Sakesan encourages you to apply by emailing your resume along with your availability. Please specify the location you are applying to in your email.

This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in busy dining rooms, enjoy interacting with customers, and who aspire to build a career in the food service and hospitality industry. Sakesan’s inclusive approach ensures that whether you are beginning your career or bring experience from other culinary backgrounds, you will find opportunities to learn and contribute in meaningful ways. Join Sakesan to be a part of a culinary tradition that celebrates quality, hospitality, and excellent service in the heart of San Francisco.
