We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef/Kitchen Chef to join our energetic culinary team. This role is integral to our kitchen operations, focusing on preparing sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese dishes with precision, creativity, and dedication to quality. The successful candidate will have strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation, a thorough knowledge of food handling procedures and sanitation practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This is a full-time or part-time position, offering between 30 to 40 hours per week with a starting pay rate of $16.90 per hour. The role requires maintaining meticulous standards of food safety and hygiene, managing food ingredients properly, and collaborating closely with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service hours.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a sushi chef or kitchen chef
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety

Job Qualifications

  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation
  • Knowledge of food handling procedures, food safety standards, and sanitation practices
  • Prior restaurant or food industry experience demonstrating excellent food service skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Prepare and assemble sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and other items according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation in all kitchen activities
  • Ensure all food preparation meets quality specifications and is delivered promptly to ensure freshness and customer satisfaction
  • Handle food ingredients with care, adhering to proper storage procedures and portion control
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service hours
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment in compliance with health regulations
