Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group is a renowned family-owned and operated organization dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences across the United States. Founded in Glendale, California, in 1983, Panda has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in America with nearly 2,800 locations globally. The company encompasses several distinct brands including the original Panda Inn fine dining restaurants, Panda Express, which is a fast-casual gourmet Chinese food concept, and Hibachi San, a Japanese grill concept. Guided by founders Andrew and Peggy Cherng, Panda continues to thrive by fostering a strong culture rooted in five fundamental values: proactive attitude, respect and win-win relationships, continuous growth, great operations, and giving back to the community. The company strongly emphasizes investing in its people, recognizing that great associates drive outstanding operations and exceed guest expectations.

At the heart of Panda’s continued success is their commitment to career growth and development opportunities. Panda offers positions nationwide ranging from entry-level crew roles to management positions, all supported by comprehensive training and ongoing leadership development. The culture is defined by a shared mission to inspire and empower people to better their lives through meaningful career opportunities within a highly supportive environment. This dedication to associates is reflected in an attractive progressive compensation package, bonus opportunities, medical and dental insurance benefits, 401(k) plans with company matching, and paid time off among other perks. The company’s robust benefit offerings and inclusive workplace underscore Panda’s reputation as an employer of choice.

Panda Inn in Glendale, specifically, is seeking experienced Sushi Chefs who possess an outgoing personality and a passion for creating exquisite Asian dishes. This fast-paced fine dining role requires candidates who are not only skilled in sushi preparation—including making fancy rolls and preparing fresh fish—but also comfortable educating and interacting with guests to enhance their dining experience. Creativity is highly valued as chefs are encouraged to develop new dishes, rolls, presentations, and sauces. Candidates must maintain high standards for food freshness and presentation while keeping their work area clean and organized. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, manage pressure effectively, and physically endure standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

The Sushi Chef role at Panda Inn offers a rewarding career with flexible schedules, competitive pay ranging from $22 to $25 per hour based on experience and location, and extensive benefits including medical, vision, dental insurance, and voluntary income protection plans. Full-time associates receive paid training geared toward success, ongoing leadership development, and opportunities for advancement into management roles. Panda’s commitment to equal opportunity and workplace accommodation ensures a welcoming environment for all qualified candidates. Working as a Sushi Chef at Panda Inn means joining a dynamic team committed to excellent Asian cuisine and superior guest experiences within a company that values its people and provides the tools for long-term career growth.
