Cinemark is currently seeking a Sushi Chef to join their team, a role that combines culinary skill with customer interaction to enhance the dining experience at their theaters. The Sushi Chef is responsible for preparing a diverse range of sushi dishes including sashimi, nigiri, maki, and classic rolls, strictly following approved recipes and adhering to portion control guidelines. This is a unique position that places the chef front and center at the sushi bar, allowing direct engagement with guests to provide not only delicious food but also a lively and inviting atmosphere.

The ideal candidate will possess prior culinary experience or a strong aspiration to develop culinary skills in the restaurant industry. High energy, outgoing personality, and a quality-driven approach are essential traits needed to thrive in this role. Sushi Chefs must be detail-oriented to maintain food safety, cleanliness, and operational standards at all times. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Completes basic food handling training and obtains any local or state mandated certification, health card, or food handlers permit where required
  • Team members who work with alcohol are required to complete a Safe Alcohol Service training program
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Requires regular and consistent attendance
  • Energetic and friendly attitude during each shift
  • Provides excellent guest service
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with all ages, genders, and personalities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to take and follow direction
  • Responds with a sense of urgency
  • Prior work experience as a sushi cook or sushi products preferred
  • Ability to proficiently prepare food with knowledge of proper techniques and equipment
  • Must be able to clearly explain how food is prepared, cooked, and served
  • Advanced knife skills a plus

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a sushi cook or in sushi preparation
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Strong knife skills preferred
  • Ability to explain food preparation and presentation to guests
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Preparation of all types of sushi line in accordance with approved recipes and portion controls
  • Follows and executes prep lists daily
  • Maintains policies and procedures to minimize food waste and theft
  • Cleans food preparation area and equipment after each use
  • Provides a professional image at all times through proper Cinemark culinary attire
  • Ensures that standard operating procedures and all preventative maintenance, safety, sanitation are consistently achieved
  • Consistently wipes down and sanitizes Employee and Guest high-contact areas
