Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology
- Surgical Technologist Certificate required at hire
- Basic Life Support certification required at hire
- Knowledge of sterile core area
- Knowledge of sterile technique, operating room procedures and equipment
- Dexterity with hands
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discipline
- Ability to follow instruction
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology
- Surgical Technologist Certificate required at hire
- Basic Life Support certification required at hire
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Knowledge of population-based and culturally sensitive care
- Experience with sterile core area operations preferred
- Two to five years of scrubbing experience in inpatient or ambulatory surgical settings preferred
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
Job Duties
- Participate in surgical procedures in the scrub role
- Comply with shift, unit and organizational policies and procedures
- Monitor and take corrective action to prevent recurring absences
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational records according to HIPAA standards
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and health care team
- Plan and prepare appropriate surgical setups based on procedure type
- Initiate and apply principles of aseptic technique and intra-operative patient management
- Organize and maintain sterile field and supplies
- Assist with emergency measures as required
- Facilitate room turnovers and restocking
- Participate in quality assurance programs
- Maintain current knowledge and skills through continuous learning
