The Food Service Manager role at Huntsville Hospital is a crucial leadership position within the Food and Nutrition Department. This role encompasses oversight of all facets of food service operations, including food preparation, storage, delivery, dining areas, sanitation, ordering, scheduling, and patient meal services as well as call center operations. The Food Service Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer service are met consistently. This leadership position is responsible for the coaching, training, and discipline of food service employees to maintain a motivated, knowledgeable, and efficient team. A key certification requirement for this role is a ServeSafe certification, which must be obtained within 90 days of hire alongside ongoing education provided by the hospital’s Corporate University.
In addition to managing daily food service functions, the Food Service Manager must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Obtain and maintain ServeSafe certification within 90 days of being hired
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Some food service experience preferred, preferably in a high volume healthcare setting
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to solve problems independently
- Knowledge of local, state, federal, and other food regulatory standards
- Knowledge of cooking methods, procedures, and kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow verbal, written, and electronic directions and recipes
Job Qualifications

- Oversee all operations of food service at the assigned Food and Nutrition Department including food preparation, storage, and delivery

- Handle call center operations related to food service
- Coach, train, and discipline food service employees to maintain high standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards
