The Support Staff role at The Hampton Social Virginia Beach is an essential position that blends the responsibilities of a Busser and Food Runner. This hybrid role plays a critical part in ensuring that the service flow runs smoothly and efficiently, supporting the entire front-of-house team. The person in this role is responsible for promptly delivering food and beverages to guests, ensuring accuracy and presentation, and announcing dishes as they arrive. They also maintain the cleanliness and organization of tables by clearing and resetting them quickly according to restaurant standards. This role requires keen attention to detail, as well as the ability to anticipate and fulfill guest needs to enhance their dining experience.

In addition to food and beverage delivery, the Support Staff helps with guest interactions by greeting warmly, addressing special requests, and assisting with packaging leftovers. Operational responsibilities include maintaining service supply stocks, transporting soiled dishes to dishwashing areas, and completing side work to keep the service area running efficiently. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and safely navigate through crowded or confined spaces in the restaurant. The Support Staff contributes significantly to upholding the hospitality standards and maintaining a positive dining environment.

This position is part of a Service Charge pay model, meaning it is compensated primarily through commission-based earnings shared with the front-of-house team from guest service charges. The role may also include tips from customers. Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Ability to move safely through all areas of the restaurant, including crowded or confined spaces
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to learn table and position numbers within one week of hire
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to support the service team effectively
  • Positive attitude and willingness to handle guest interactions professionally and courteously

  • Adhere to company policies, including uniform and appearance standards

Job Duties

  • Promptly deliver food and beverages to tables, ensuring accurate presentation and order completeness
  • Announce dishes and beverages to guests upon delivery
  • Follow allergy procedures and communicate any special instructions to guests
  • Clear and reset tables within one minute, following restaurant specifications
  • Remove dirty dishes, glassware, silverware, and debris promptly
  • Crumb, wipe, and maintain table cleanliness throughout service
  • Greet guests warmly and anticipate their needs
