Job Description
The Orangewood Foundation is a dedicated nonprofit organization that has been passionately advocating for young people facing foster care, homelessness, and trafficking since its inception in 1981. Located in Orange County, the foundation is committed to empowering youth by providing comprehensive support that enables them to achieve their dreams and goals. The organization runs a variety of vital programs and services concentrated in four essential areas: Basic Needs & Support, Education, Life Skills & Employment, and Transitional Housing & Support. With a powerful mission rooted in advocacy and empowerment, the Orangewood Foundation aims to create a community where every young person thrives. This vision is central to all its interactions with youth, volunteers, community members, and staff, reinforcing a commitment to fostering a positive environment that promotes inclusiveness and opportunity.
Recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in 2025, ranking number 27, the Orangewood Foundation prides itself on a workplace culture founded on trust, respect, empathy, inclusion, and advocacy. The foundation offers an equal opportunity employment environment with flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, professional development opportunities, and a focus on mental and physical wellness.
The Support Services Supervisor role at Orangewood Foundation is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Support Services Manager within the Programs department. This position plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the Advanced Studies Fund (ASF), Scholarships, and Lyon Workforce Academy (LWA) programs. The Lyon Workforce Academy is an innovative, trauma-informed workforce development program designed specifically for transitional-age youth, helping them build skills, confidence, and experience to secure and maintain meaningful employment. Through personalized coaching, workshops, employment supports, and partnerships with corporate employers, participants gain job readiness skills and establish long-term career pathways. The program also supports employers in adopting trauma-informed workplace practices to foster retention and create inclusive environments.
The ASF and Scholarships programs provide essential financial support and career advancement opportunities for former foster youth pursuing higher education, trade schools, vocational training, and advanced degrees. The Support Services Supervisor oversees these programs ensuring high-quality, trauma-responsive, and strength-based service delivery that aligns with the Orangewood Foundation's mission and strategic priorities. This role requires fostering strong relationships with educational institutions, employers, alumni, and community partners to enhance scholar engagement, persistence, and workforce readiness. The supervisor is also responsible for program coordination, staff supervision, outcome tracking, and continuous quality improvement.
This position demands an individual capable of managing high-stress situations, including mitigating participant crises and handling exposure to vicarious trauma, making self-care and professional support critical components of success. The Support Services Supervisor must be adept at navigating complex problems with empathy, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit, demonstrating exceptional leadership in a dynamic work environment. Compensation for this role ranges between $70,304 and $86,000 per year, further supported by an extensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, mental health resources, retirement plans, paid time off, and more. The role requires the ability to work on-site and may involve the use of a personal vehicle. Overall, this opportunity offers a meaningful career path for candidates passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable youth and shaping a thriving community.
