Job Description
The Salvation Army is a well-established international evangelical movement and an integral part of the universal Christian church. Founded on the principles of the Bible and motivated by the love of God, The Salvation Army dedicates its efforts to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and meeting human needs without discrimination. With a mission to promote Christian faith and values, it operates multiple community-focused programs and service departments that serve diverse populations, addressing critical needs through compassionate and structured assistance. The Salvation Army is renowned for its commitment to community support, offering services that range from emergency aid to long-term rehabilitation and spiritual guidance, all grounded in a faith-based understanding of humanity and service. This particular position is part of the Worship & Arts department, housed within The Salvation Army Kroc Center, a hub for community interaction and service delivery.
The role of Support Services Receptionist at The Salvation Army Kroc Center is a vital part-time position reporting directly to the Support Services Manager. This role functions as the first point of contact for the Support Services Department, providing a warm and professional welcome to all clients and callers, and effectively managing the initial intake process. This position requires a receptionist who is skilled in handling multi-channel communication including answering telephone calls, maintaining detailed and accurate records and logs, and assisting clients with navigating available support services through the SAHelp application portal. The receptionist will assess basic client needs before directing them to the appropriate Case Managers, ensuring that each individual receives tailored assistance. The job also encompasses a variety of office duties such as organizing files, preparing monthly reports, maintaining communication about program availability, and overseeing supply ordering.
The position demands a dedicated individual who embodies a pleasant attitude and a commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army. They should be proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and capable of managing deadlines while multitasking in a collaborative team environment. Additionally, the role involves important community networking responsibilities, maintaining current knowledge of local services and partnerships with other agencies to enhance client support. Seasonal responsibilities include assisting with Christmas assistance programs like Angel Tree and Adopt-a-Family, which involve client registration, application processing, and participation in distribution events. Overall, this role is integral to the smooth running of the Support Services Department at The Salvation Army Kroc Center and directly supports its broader mission to serve the community with dignity and Christ-centered compassion.
