Job Description
Tenderloin Housing Clinic (THC) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to addressing and alleviating homelessness in San Francisco. Operating primarily in the Tenderloin, Mission, and SoMa neighborhoods, THC manages 24 Single Room Occupancy (SRO) residential hotels that provide stable housing to formerly homeless adults. This vital work hinges on the organization's adherence to the Housing First model, which centers on the principle that housing is a fundamental human right and the first step towards recovery and self-sufficiency. By focusing on immediate access to housing, followed by the provision of comprehensive supportive services, THC fosters a compassionate and effective environment for residents to thrive.
The role of Support Services Manager at Tenderloin Housing Clinic is a full-time, leadership position that offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable populations. The Support Services Manager is responsible for supervising a team of six Case Managers across one or more residential sites, each of which serves a caseload characterized by one Case Manager per 35 tenants. This position requires a compassionate, committed individual with leadership experience who can guide a team engaged in hands-on work, supporting individuals who often face complex challenges such as dual diagnoses involving mental health and substance use disorders.
Support Services Managers at THC play a pivotal role in maintaining housing stability for tenants by providing direct on-site support and coordination. Their leadership helps ensure that Case Managers effectively deliver an array of critical services, including intake and assessment, benefits advocacy, community referrals, mediation with property management, conflict resolution, support groups, social events, organized tenant activities, and wellness checks. These services not only promote tenant well-being but also foster a supportive community atmosphere, crucial for long-term success and retention in housing.
This leadership role offers a competitive salary starting from $73,500 per year and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Full-time employees enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance for themselves and eligible family members, a 403(b) retirement plan, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, paid time off—including vacation, sick days, holidays, and floating holidays—providing both financial security and work-life balance.
Working at Tenderloin Housing Clinic means joining a passionate team dedicated to inclusive practices that welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds, including those with criminal records, thereby promoting a nonjudgmental and supportive workplace culture. The position requires in-person attendance and offers an enriching opportunity to contribute meaningfully at the intersection of social services and housing in one of San Francisco's most dynamic urban communities. This is a career path where leadership skills and a heart for social change align to create enduring impact.
