The position of Supply Chain Services Operations Manager at Baylor Scott & White Health plays a vital role in overseeing and managing cost-effective supply chain operations within surgical services, interventional radiology, and cardiovascular care departments. This role is essential for reviewing and managing costs, driving efficiency, and implementing strategies that reduce supply expenses while maintaining a high standard of patient care. Acting as a critical liaison among different service lines and supply chain leaders, the manager ensures that inventory control processes, including materials acquisition, receiving, distribution, and PAR level coordination, are executed efficiently and effectively.

The Operations Manager supervises assigned staff and coordinates major inventory control responsibilities to optimize supply chain performance. This position involves applying best practices to standardize processes and maximize operational efficiencies within the healthcare system. Additionally, the manager leads and participates in project teams, coordinates activities, develops implementation plans, and generates reports to track project status and outcomes. They also handle resolving discrepancies in supply reports and lead critical system-wide physical inventory assessments to uphold operational accuracy.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Five years of experience required
  • Professional certification like CPM or A.P.P. preferred
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office and Supply Chain ERP systems
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate projects and lead teams effectively
  • Capable of managing complex inventory control operations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or four years of work experience above minimum qualification
  • Five years of experience in supply chain or related field
  • Preferred professional certification such as Certified Purchasing Management (CPM) or Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.)
  • Proven skills in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Supply Chain ERP
  • Strong written communication and report/presentation design skills

Job Duties

  • Supervises SCS staff as assigned by corporate operations senior leadership
  • Responsible for supervising, coordinating, and implementing inventory control processes in surgical services, interventional radiology, and cardiovascular care
  • Serves as liaison between supply chain services and clinical departments to ensure effective management of supplies, instruments, and equipment
  • Manages processes and personnel for materials acquisition, receiving, distribution, and coordination of PAR levels
  • Ensures standardization of processes based on best practices to maximize efficiencies
  • Manages or participates on project teams, coordinating activities and developing implementation plans
  • Develops reports and materials to update project status
  • Evaluates and resolves supply chain reports such as open receiving and invoice discrepancies
  • Leads system-wide physical inventory and product agreement conversions
  • Focuses on enhancing patient care cost-effectively by using contracted supplies and equipment efficiently
  • Completes special projects and assists field operations as needed
  • Performs other duties as required in a professional manner
