The Warehouse Supervisor position located in Topeka, Kansas, offers a hands-on leadership role within the company’s warehouse operations. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring a work schedule from Saturday to Monday, 6 pm to 6 am, with flexibility to accommodate additional hours as needed. The role involves supervising and directing all personnel during the shift, including overseeing the Crew Supervisor. This position is critical to ensuring compliance with safety goals, BRC (British Retail Consortium), food safety standards, SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). The Warehouse Supervisor will also be responsible for meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and annual operating plans (AOPs).
Key responsibilities include maintaining product safety, quality, and legality for storage and distribution, managing the workforce through Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Workforce Management (WFM) systems, overseeing loading and unloading processes, and ensuring inventory accuracy and shift efficiency. The supervisor will directly manage shift leads, shipping coordinators, and hourly staff while controlling the overall operational flow within the shipping and receiving office. This involves carrier scheduling, daily operational reporting, yard moves, and driver interactions.
In addition to operational duties, the Warehouse Supervisor is charged with maintaining safety and security on the shift, managing held inventory and liquidation inventory, and enforcing employee performance, discipline, and timeliness. Instilling J.M. Smucker’s core values and commitment to one another is also a vital part of this role. The ideal candidate will be observant and proactive in identifying potential equipment failures, suggesting process or equipment improvements, and assuring ongoing compliance with quality standards, including SOPs, GMP, and BRC requirements.
