Safety and compliance, including background checks and drug screenings, are part of McLane's commitment to maintaining a secure work environment.
The role of Transportation Maintenance Supervisor at McLane is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all repairs, maintenance, and capital expense projects related to transportation equipment and facilities. The supervisor ensures that all building and equipment maintenance requirements are met with the highest efficiency and effectiveness. A key aspect of this supervisory role is mentoring and training maintenance technicians on company policies, repair protocols, work order management, and proper maintenance record keeping within the computerized maintenance software system called "Fleet Assistant." The supervisor must also manage an accurate inventory of parts and uphold stringent safety and cleanliness standards within the maintenance shop.
This position plays a strategic role in budget development for repairs, maintenance supplies, third-party services, and spare parts inventory. The supervisor is charged with negotiating maintenance contracts and managing vendor relationships to optimize costs without compromising quality and service. Supervisory duties include prioritizing and coordinating daily technician activities while promoting productivity, teamwork, safety, and skill proficiency. The role demands hands-on expertise, as the supervisor may be called upon to directly participate in complex equipment repairs. Additional responsibilities include ensuring appropriate staffing levels, maintaining mandatory training and certifications, and adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Candidates are expected to bring significant experience with medium and heavy-duty vehicles, including freight tractors, trailers, and refrigeration systems. This role requires leadership skills, technical competence, and effective communication. The Transportation Maintenance Supervisor at McLane is an influential position that contributes to the company's mission by ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of transportation assets critical to McLane's supply chain and customer satisfaction. Compensation for this role ranges from $70,000 to $75,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual incentive plan targeting 10% of the base salary. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance starting from day one, paid time off, 401(k) profit sharing, and additional perks such as pet insurance, tuition reimbursement, and employee assistance programs. McLane offers a supportive environment where team members can develop professionally and personally, contributing to the company’s ongoing success and fostering a rewarding career path.
