This particular job opportunity is for a Sample Management Supervisor, fully onsite at the Global Central Laboratory located in Highland Heights, Kentucky. This role operates on the second shift, working Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM ET. The position demands physical stamina including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and requires standing for the entire shift. The environment includes fluctuating temperatures with some personal protective equipment requirements such as safety glasses, gowns, gloves, and ear plugs to maintain safety and compliance. Although the company welcomes applicants from across the United States, relocation assistance is not offered and candidates would be responsible for any relocation costs.

As a Sample Management Supervisor, responsibilities include mentoring and assessing the sample management staff, scheduling, and assisting with departmental oversight. The role involves performing complex sample handling tasks such as receipt, accessioning, routing, storage, aliquoting, shipping, and destruction, supporting the overall Sample Management department. This position carries leadership responsibilities including staff training, mentoring, and maintaining staff records for training and assessments. Additionally, the supervisor acts as a technical liaison for project-specific procedures, responds to environmental unit alarms, and participates in on-call duties. The position requires a candidate capable of working accurately, safely, and timely under standards governed by GLP/GCP.

Educational and professional qualifications for this role include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal academic or vocational training, and previous experience ranging from 0 to 5 years that demonstrates relevant skills and abilities. Leadership experience of at least one year is required, alongside a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates are expected to possess a foundational understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP), with familiarity in Microsoft Office tools and environmental monitoring systems. Excellent communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, team collaboration, and project management abilities are essential for success in this role.

  • Must be available for second shift Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00PM-12:30AM ET

Job Duties

  • Perform any or all Sample Coordinator functions, including oversight and execution of a variety of complex standard and sample tasks (receipt, accessioning, routing, storage, aliquoting, shipping, discard, destruction, etc.) in support of the Sample Management department
  • Oversee the scheduling of sample coordinators and assist management with departmental oversight
  • Act as back-up in the absence of management and serve as a technical liaison for project-specific sample management procedures
  • Train, mentor, and assess the needs of the sample management staff
  • Manage staff training documents, assessments, and records
  • Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities
  • Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely
