The University of Miami UHealth at SoLé Mia, set to open in September 2025, will expand high-quality academic medicine services to North Miami, Aventura, and nearby communities. This new facility will integrate a wide range of specialties from notable programs such as the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute—the top eye hospital in the nation—and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, among others. UHealth at SoLé Mia will also provide access to nationally ranked neurology and neurosurgery care, reinforcing the university's position as a leader in health care delivery and medical research.
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Patient Access (On-Site) (H) to join the Patient Access department at this new location. This full-time staff position plays a vital role in overseeing and managing daily business and clinical support operations for assigned locations and Tier 1 teams within University of Miami's Health System. The Supervisor, Patient Access is responsible for facilitating efficient patient flow and revenue cycle management processes. This includes ensuring the accurate collection and verification of patient demographic, financial, and clinical information required for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts. The supervisor anticipates patient volume, monitors staff productivity, and maintains an organized, welcoming atmosphere for patients, customers, visitors, and staff of all ages and backgrounds.
The role demands strong leadership and organizational skills, as the Supervisor will orient, train, and evaluate registration staff, ensure strict adherence to policies and procedures, and coordinate scheduling to manage patient flow effectively. The Supervisor also addresses patient flow issues, handles performance management, and recommends operational improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of service. Responsibilities include managing daily financial transactions, ensuring proper documentation and deposits, and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with university policies. The successful candidate will maintain harmonious relationships across health care teams and champions key business initiatives and performance indicators, such as patient satisfaction, co-pay and balance collections, registration processing time, and reduction of denials.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships

Job Duties
- Obtains, confirms, and enters demographic, financial, and clinical information necessary for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts
- Orients, trains, evaluates, and monitors registration staff, using positive reinforcement and recognition
- Ensures that staff members adhere to all established policies and procedures
- Assists with planning, organizing, and scheduling to accommodate daily expected volumes
- Communicates any patient flow issues to appropriate managing staff
- Verifies patient demographic and insurance information, and edits information, as necessary
- Explains consent for treatment, financial liability, and HIPAA to patients
- Initiates performance management processes to address on-going performance issues
- Makes every effort to collect outstanding patient account balances, runs end of day reports, ensures accurate accounting of collected funds, and deposits funds
- Identifies and recommends process changes that will improve overall performance and efficiency of the registration process
- Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures
- Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures
- Monitors staff compliance with key business initiatives and inspires team to achieve established Key Performance Indicators including but not limited to patient satisfaction, co-pay, and previous balance collections, registration processing time, and denials
- Maintains harmonious and collaborative working relationship with all healthcare team members
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
