Job Description

Children's is the only full-service pediatric healthcare center in the region, dedicated exclusively to providing the highest quality care for children. Known for its commitment to excellence, inclusion, and innovation, Children’s fosters a supportive environment where its dedicated team members are valued and encouraged to grow professionally. The organization is continuously expanding its services and physical spaces, including the advanced Hubbard Center for Children, to meet the evolving healthcare needs of children and families in the community. As a leader in pediatric behavioral health, Children's prioritizes a diverse and inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming veterans and people with disabilities.

The Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor role at Children’s plays a pivotal part in ensuring the delivery of superior clinical care within the pediatric behavioral health unit. Working primarily evening shifts from Monday to Wednesday, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with an average of 36 hours per week, the Clinical Supervisor leads and coordinates all daily clinical operations alongside managing personnel functions. This person is responsible for maintaining the highest standards in patient care by holding staff accountable to regulatory and institutional standards and interpreting those policies and procedures to both clinical staff and families.

In addition to overseeing the operational flow and clinical activities within the unit, the Clinical Supervisor provides direct clinical services, including psychotherapy and clinical assessments. This role requires professional autonomy in diagnosing and treating patients and emphasizes the importance of fostering a collaborative and safe culture where effective relationships among healthcare team members and patients thrive. The Clinical Supervisor also acts as a community ambassador, providing professional presentations and services that enhance Children’s visibility and reputation beyond the hospital walls.

Key duties include managing patient flow, coordinating admissions and discharges, ensuring timely clinical documentation, and supervising staff performance and development. The Clinical Supervisor is expected to address unforeseen clinical challenges proactively, ensuring resource optimization and maintaining quality patient care standards. Leadership responsibilities extend to recruitment, hiring, staff coaching, performance evaluations, and the facilitation of ongoing training and competency development. The role requires clinical expertise and active participation in quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes and organizational performance.

Effective communication skills are essential in this leadership position to build trust and transparency within the unit. The Clinical Supervisor must handle conflict resolution, maintain confidentiality, and engage in proactive problem-solving around patient and staff needs. Commitment to compliance with internal policies and external regulatory guidelines is critical, alongside promoting a customer-friendly therapeutic environment that exceeds the expectations of children, families, and healthcare colleagues.

Beyond clinical and operational oversight, this role requires dedication to building and maintaining strong, supportive relationships in the workplace and the wider community. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of psychological principles, child and adolescent development, and experience working in behavioral health settings. Children’s supports career growth by valuing continuous learning and providing the resources necessary for professional advancement in a compassionate and mission-driven organization.
